Light Dragoons to Deploy to Afghanistan in March

Today, 01 February 2007, the Secretary of State for Defence announced that the Light Dragoons will deploy to Afghanistan on Operation Herrick 6.
The Regiment will deploy as part of 12 Mechanised Brigade alongside other units including the 1st Battalion The Grenadier Guards, the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment and the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters. This will coincide with C Squadron’s return FROM theatre who have enjoyed a challenging time operating in Helmand Province. The Regiment, operating in CVR(T) are likely to be involved in manoeuvre operations designed to disrupt enemy forces activity within the southern part of the country.
